Approval of Purchase Order M120102, Purchase of Aqua Guard Bar/Filter Screens at South Water Reclamation Facility, with Parkson Corporation, in the total amount of $637,298.  ([Utilities Department Water Reclamation Division] Procurement Division)

body

PROCUREMENT:

This purchase order procures two Aqua Guard self-cleaning bar/filter screens to replace the existing screens at the South Water Reclamation Facility (SWRF). This purchase is inclusive of installation of the screens and control panels, testing, mechanical warranty, and removal of the existing screens.

FUNDING:

Funding is available in account number 4420-038-1435-0031-6310.

APPROVALS:

The Water Reclamation Division concurs with this recommendation.

REMARKS:

The existing Aqua Guard self cleaning bar/filter screens at SWRF were installed in 2009. They are approaching the end of their useful life and have corroded over time, requiring replacement. Due to the propriety design of the screens and regulatory requirements, replacing the existing screens with a different model or brand would require modifications to the facility’s infrastructure and control systems. These modifications to the facility infrastructure potentially compromise integration with the Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition system and disrupt operation and maintenance protocols. Parkson Corporation is the manufacturer and has been verified as the sole provider for the Aqua Guard screens and is the only source of replacement parts for existing equipment.   Pricing was determined to be fair and reasonable in comparison to quotes obtained in 2024 for replacement screens and similar purchases made by the City of Port St. Lucie in 2024 and the City of Melbourne in 2025.
