Confirmation of the Mayor’s managerial appointment of Jason Reynolds as Deputy Director, Planning, Environmental, and Development Services Department.

PURPOSE: I am pleased to announce the appointment of Jason Reynolds, AICP, as Deputy Director of the Planning, Environmental, and Development Services (PEDS) Department. This executive position supports the PEDS Director in the efficient and quality management of the Department across its seven divisions and helps advance the mission of Orange County government through professional, competent, and effective program oversight. This is one of two deputy director positions in the PEDS Department. A nationwide recruitment process was conducted to fill the vacancy for this position, and we are pleased to present Mr. Reynolds as the appointed candidate for board consideration.
Mr. Reynolds has over 18 years of proven expertise in the public sector, with a concentration in community and economic development, planning, project management, grants management, intergovernmental coordination, redevelopment, regulatory/compliance operations, and affordable housing. Mr. Reynolds began his career in 2007 as a Facilities Planning Specialist with the School District of Osceola County, then joined Orange County Government in 2009, where he served collectively as Senior Planner, Principal Planner, Chief Planner, and Administrator with Neighborhood Services for over a decade. In 2019, Mr. Reynolds was appointed as the Neighborhood Services Division Manager where he has served for the past six years. In his current role, he reports directly to the PEDS Director, supervises a team of 81 personnel, and manages an overall Division budget of $16,844,611.
Mr. Reynolds earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Criminology and a Master of Arts in Urban and Regional Planning. He is an AICP Certified Planner and holds a certification in Architecture and Urbanism.
Mr. Reynold’s appointment will be effective the first pay period following the Board action, at an annual salary of $184,704. His resume is attached for your reference.
