Approval and execution for the Orange County Sheriff’s Office to spend $62,500 from the FY 2025 Law Enforcement Trust Fund-State Forfeitures for eligible contributions to Orlando Community Youth Trust Inc. - Dueling Dragons ($30,000), Orlando Youth Alliance ($2,500), Orange County Police Athletic League (PAL) ($5,000), Holocaust Memorial Resource & Education Center of Florida ($10,000), and IDignity ($15,000). Orlando Community Youth Trust Inc. - Dueling Dragons - $30,000. This organization builds relationships of trust between Orlando Police Officers, Orange County Deputies, and youth in Orlando communities where those bonds have been historically broken. The goal is to break down racial barriers, teach teamwork, mentor teens, change stereotypes, build genuine relationships, and ultimately improve the lives of youth from communities of color.
Orlando Youth Alliance - $2,500. This organization and its chapters provide a safe space for lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and questioning youths in Central Florida. They offer a weekly peer-to-peer support group. They offer monthly social, educational. and recreational activities to help further develop a core group of friends and peer supporters.
Orange County Police Athletic League (PAL) - $5,000. This organization provides athletic, recreational, and educational programs for at-risk youth. This contribution will assist in hosting community service projects while learning about the many aspects of the criminal justice system, as well as supporting current and future Police Athletic League programs. The 2025 PAL Golf Tournament will be held on September 6, 2025, at Shingle Creek Golf Club in Orlando, Florida.
Holocaust Memorial Resource & Education Center of Florida - $10,000. This organization is dedicated to combating antisemitism, racism, and prejudice, with the ultimate goal of developing a moral and just community through its extensive outreach of educational and cultural programs.
IDignity - $15,000. This contribution will provide funding to assist citizens in our community with regaining access to their legal identification documents. Their mission is to reduce the likelihood of individuals committing crimes and assist the Orange County Sheriff’s Office in being able to properly identify those in our community.
