PROJECT:
N/A

PURPOSE: The Orange County Youth and Family services Division has been awarded funding through the Hazard Mitigation Grant Program (HMGP) to install permanent generators at the locations listed below. Securing this funding is part of our continuing commitment to enhancing our disaster resilience efforts. Significant initiatives, such as installing permanent generators, play a crucial role in ensuring uninterrupted services and safety during emergencies. This funding will ensure that we are able to provide a continuous power supply during emergencies which will enable us to maintain communications, medical services, and other essential functions that rely on electricity during an emergency.

Through this program, Orange County has been awarded $555,969.05 in grant funding as a subrecipient. As part of the HMGP grant, FEMA covers up to 75% of eligible project costs, requiring a non-federal share of at least 25%. Based on this structure, Orange County is responsible for contributing approximately $185,000 to meet the grant’s cost-sharing requirement. These funds will be utilized for the installation of two permanent generators at the following locations:

1768 East Michigan Street, Orlando Fl 32806

1800 East Michigan Street, Orlando Fl 32806

These sites have been selected based on their essential function in maintaining a high level of quality of care for the youth who reside here on campus during emergencies. The installation of permanent generators at these locations will help mitigate the risks associated with power loss and will ensure that operations remain uninterrupted and that critical services can continue to be delivered to residents in need.

The program aligns with the county’s broader efforts to strengthen infrastructure resilience and enhance disaster response capabilities.
