Approval of Change Order No 1, Contract Y24-789 Orange County Courthouse Fire Pump, with Johnson Controls Fire Protection LP in the amount of $288,209.80, for a revised lump sum contract amount of $910,059.80. District 5. (Facilities Management Division)
body
PROJECT: Orange County Courthouse Fire Pumps Replacement.
PURPOSE: To provide funding for the Installation of a temporary fire pump to maintain fire protection for the Orange County Courthouse while the main fire pump is being replaced.
BUDGET: Accounting Line Number: 1023-043-1787-3810
JUSTIFICATION/DISCUSSION:
Bidding and permitting were done concurrently to expedite the process and this change order is to address building permit comments. Following a review of the permitted construction drawings, the City of Orlando Fire Department determined that a temporary fire pump system must be provided during the replacement of the permanent fire pumps. This requirement is in accordance with NFPA 1 (Section 13.3.3.6.5) and NFPA 25 (Section 15.5), which mandate continuous fire protection coverage during system impairments. The project was originally bid with a fire watch.
