PROCUREMENT:

This contract will provide identify high school students from Title I Orange County Public Schools or who meet two or more at-risk criteria to participate in a summer internship program within Orange County Government. The performance period is October 1, 2024 through September 30, 2027.

FUNDING:

Funds are available during fiscal year 2024-2025 in account numbers 0001-062-2540-8610, 0001-062-2540-8120, 0001-062-2540-3195, 0001-0622406-3195, 0001-062-2556-8610, and 0001-062-2556-8120.

APPROVALS:

The Citizens’ Commission for Children Division concurs with these funding recommendations.

REMARKS:

In accordance with the Code of Ordinances, Part 1, Chapter 17, Article III, Section 17-286 - Applications and Exclusions, agreements between the Board and nonprofit organizations are excluded from competitive procurement requirements.

On September 24, 2024, the Board authorized award of this contract, however, it was later determined that the contract amount previously presented had been incorrect.

This contract Summer Internship Program identifies 35 high school students from Title 1 Orange County Public Schools or who meet two or more criteria to participate in an internship program within Orange County Government and associated locations for seven weeks during summer break with work hours consisting of no more than 31 hours per four-day work week. Scheduled hours are Monday through Thursday. Staff markets the internship opportunity to students in Title I schools by participating in school events, hosting socials and by being included in community events where students who meet the criteria will be present. It is projected that this contract will serve 105 students over the course of the three-year term.
