PROCUREMENT:

The project includes the repair of two EscaMax 9000 bar screens at the SWRF.  Wastewater treatment processes use bar screens to remove large debris from the treatment flow stream.  Efficient removal of this debris is critical to successful treatment.

FUNDING:

Funding is available in account number 4420-038-1359-3820.

APPROVALS:

The Utilities Department concurs with this recommendation.

REMARKS:

This purchase is imperative to ensure the health and public safety of County residents and employees, as well as to maintain regulatory monitoring and compliance. Currently, one of the three units is out of service and undergoing the same repairs approved by the Board in July 2024.  These repairs involve replacing parts that failed with stronger materials, as well as labor for installation.  The other two remaining bar screens have experienced similar parts failing and were strained by the recent storm events as flows increased to the facility.  Price reasonableness was established by comparison to Purchase Order M115422 for the same repairs to one unit.

Failure to have this purchase order processed could result in safety, monitoring, and compliance risks to the public, the environment and additional costs to the County.

Huber Technology, Inc. is the sole vendor authorized to provide the bar screen parts and perform the repairs.
