Approval of Change Order No 1, Contract Y23-738 Clerk of Courts Branch Security Upgrades, with Core Engineering & Construction Inc in the amount of $298,159.72, for a revised lump sum contract amount of $713,920.98. District 2. (Capital Projects Division)
body
PROJECT: Clerk of Courts Branch Security Upgrades
PURPOSE: To provide funding for additional construction services to complete the capital improvements
BUDGET: Accounting Line Number: 1023-043-2075-3810
JUSTIFICATION/DISCUSSION:
The original scope of work for the project included lighting upgrades, lobby reconfigurations, and the installation of interior windows and panic buttons at both the Apopka and Ocoee Clerk of Court Service Centers. During routine inspections for that work, the City of Ocoee Fire Marshall discovered a code compliance issue regarding life safety that was required to be resolved to complete the project. The plans were modified to include a new means of egress from the building which included a new interior fire rated corridor. The work includes new masonry openings with lintels and wall infill for the new emergency doors, interior demolition and drywall to build the new emergency corridor leading to the new exterior egress door. The interior work also included new LED lights, data and power as needed, and the new doors and hardware. The work on the exterior work included new concrete sidewalks with handrails. Although the City of Apopka did not require this work to be done, the County implemented these same improvements at the Apopka location to bring the building up to code and meet the life safety requirements.
