PURPOSE:
Legal Aid Society - $30,000. This contribution provides practical legal help where it is most urgently needed by utilizing the law to bring as much physical safety and economic stability as possible to neighbors in need. The Legal Aid Society of the Orange County Bar Association solves real problems for real people, quietly strengthening the safety net in the same neighborhoods that OCSO deputies serve.
Explorer Post Program - $30,000. This contribution is for the Explorer Post Program and will assist in providing structured training, mentorship, and service opportunities for the youth participants.
Florida FBINAA, 2026 Retraining Conference - $1,000. The Volusia Sheriff’s Office and the Florida FBI National Academy Associates (FBINAA) will be hosting the 2026 Florida FBINAA Retraining Conference in Daytona Beach, Florida from August 1 through 4, 2026. The funds received from the donation will directly support the conference with an emphasis on the training component and will be used to help with the costs of conference materials and training expenses.
Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity, Inc., Getting in Good Trouble Awards & Scholarship Luncheon - $2,500. This contribution provides scholarships to deserving youth in our community and supports the Sigma Beta Club mentoring program and other youth development programs. Additionally, the Board of Directors has expanded the singular focus of the youth affiliate to include the recognition of high school graduates with scholarships that support their college education. The “Getting in Good Trouble Awards” and Stanley T. Muller Scholarship Luncheon will be held on June 12, 2026, at the First Baptist Church of Orlando to commemorate the legacy of the Honorable John Robert Lewis.
Friendship Foundation, Inc. - $2,000. This organization awards scholarships to local high school seniors to pursue a college degree. A college educated kid is less likely to get involved in crime, thus reducing crime in our community.
