PROJECT: SHIP and HHRP Agreements
PURPOSE: On January 23, 2023, Orange County, a long-term recipient of State Housing Initiative Partnership (SHIP) Program funds, received an allocation of $2,161,534 as part of the Hurricane Housing Recovery Program (HHRP). The HHRP funds are to be administered in accordance with the SHIP Program requirements to address damages to the affordable housing stock caused by Hurricane Ian and/or Nicole. Some of the eligible purposes for the expenditure of funds include repair and replacement of housing, to include rental and owner-occupied units.
The County, through a competitive application process and in accordance with SHIP Program requirements, selected three projects to be funded with SHIP/HHRP funds made available to Orange County: 1) Habitat for Humanity Greater Orlando and Osceola County, Inc. was awarded $669,462 to implement a County-wide Roof Replacement Program for qualified households; 2) Habitat for Humanity Greater Orlando and Osceola County, Inc. was awarded $760,538 to implement a County-wide Major Housing Rehabilitation Program for qualified households; and 3) Grand Avenue Economic Community Development Corp. was awarded $490,200 for rehabilitation activities on the Maxwell Garden affordable apartment complex that provides housing to very low and low-income individuals, to include those who were previously homeless.
To implement the selected projects, Program Administration Subrecipient Agreements must be executed with the agencies. The County Attorney’s Office has reviewed the agreements as to form.
