PURPOSE:
Contributions:
Orlando Community and Youth Trust, Inc., Dueling Dragons - $30,000. This contribution will help to sustain and support the growth of this program. Since 2011, this program has brought together Orange County Sheriff’s Deputies, Orlando Police Department; City of Orlando, Families, Parks and Recreation; and inner-city youth to form a year-round dragon boat racing team that builds relationships of trust between law enforcement and inner-city youth in Orlando communities where those bonds have been historically broken. The goal is to break down racial barriers, teach teamwork, mentor teens, change stereotypes, build genuine relationships and ultimately improve the lives of youth from communities of color.
