PROJECT: FWC21148 Aquatic Plant Control Contract: Amendment 1 Three-year Renewal
PURPOSE: The purpose of this Consent Item is to request that the Board approve Amendment 1 to Contract FWC21148 between the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission (FWC) and Orange County. As background, Orange County has been a co-operator for the state-operated aquatic plant management program for more than 30 years. Orange County and FWC currently have a three-year contract (Agreement), approved by the Board on June 21, 2022, which includes the following provisions:
1) Allows the County to be reimbursed for labor, equipment, and materials associated with controlling invasive aquatic plants in several public access lakes including Lake Jessamine, Lake Hart, Lake Mary Jane, the Conway Chain of Lakes, and the Butler Chain of Lakes and 2) Authorizes the EPD Contract Manager to sign the annual task assignments. The Agreement expires on July 17, 2025.
This partnership has enabled the successful preservation and management of aquatic ecosystem resources throughout Orange County, and in turn, allows residents and visitors to benefit from a variety of water-based recreational activities. The partnership also results in significant monetary savings for the residents of Orange County.
Orange County and FWC wish to amend the Contract FWC21148, which, if approved, will renew the contract for an additional three-year period with an expiration date of July 17, 2028. Aside from the change to the expiration date, there are no other changes to the established contract language and/or terms. The original Agreement is included as Attachment 1 and Amendment 1 is included as Attachment 2.
This Amendment was reviewed by the County Attorney’s Office and approved as to form.
