PROJECT: Orange County Advanced Air Mobility Feasibility Study
PURPOSE: On June 30, 2026, staff will present an overview of the Orange County Advanced Air Mobility Feasibility Study (Feasibility Study). Advanced Air Mobility (AAM) is a new category of aviation predominantly based on electric vertical takeoff and landing (eVTOL) aircraft designed for accessible short-distance travel between “vertiport” facilities. The U.S. Department of Transportation recently approved the Florida Department of Transportation’s AAM pilot project for Central Florida, accelerating market interest in vertiport development in the County. The Feasibility Study is designed to assess the feasibility of County subareas, including the International Drive Community Redevelopment Area, for vertiports when proposed. The Feasibility Study also provides other resources and guidance for staff review of proposed vertiport development and corresponding public outreach. (Office of Innovation and Emerging Technology)
