Approval to award Invitation for Bids Y26-601-JA, South Water Reclamation Facility Effluent 4160V Variable Frequency Drives Failures and Replacement to the sole responsive and responsible bidder, Sinns & Thomas Electrical Contractors, Inc., in the estimated contract award amount of $579,000. PROCUREMENT:
This contract procures the installation of four medium voltage, 1000 HP variable frequency drives (VFDs) at the South Water Reclamation Facility. The VFDs have been pre-purchased by the Utilities Department.
FUNDING:
Funds are available in account number 4420-038-1555-0056-6310.
APPROVALS:
The Utilities Department and Business Development Division concur with this recommendation.
REMARKS:
One bid was received in response to this Invitation for Bids and evaluated for responsiveness, responsibility, and price reasonableness. Sinns & Thomas Electrical Contractors, Inc. has a satisfactory record of past performance with the County. Price reasonableness was determined based on comparison to the engineer's estimate. Therefore, award is recommended to Sinns & Thomas Electrical Contractors, Inc.
To ensure an open and competitive bid process, the Invitation for Bids was posted on the County's e-procurement platform, which notified a total of 665 subscribed vendors. A query from staff to potential bidders that declined to compete on this project resulted in the following:
