PROJECT:
Youth Sports Enhancement Grant

PURPOSE: The Neighborhood Services Division administers the Youth Sports Enhancement Grant which provides funds to qualified volunteer organizations that operate youth sports programs, are open to the public, and do not require participants to meet exclusionary qualifications. The grant is awarded on a first-come, first served basis to eligible 501c3 youth sports programs to build character, enhance physical fitness, and provide mentoring and guidance to Orange County's youth. This grant will be awarded to the Central Florida Dreamplex to provide specialized basketball to support the Orlando Magic Dreamers wheelchair basketball youth program operated by Central Florida Dreamplex.

Each organization receiving the grants is required to sign a letter of agreement recognizing their responsibilities throughout the grant process and demonstrating their ability to maintain the project. Applications are accepted year-round and are reviewed quarterly by the Neighborhood Grants Advisory Board. One grant was awarded in the third quarter with the total amount awarded being $15,000. The grant request is displayed in detail in attachment A.
