PURPOSE: This is a follow-up to previous presentations from the Septic Tank Workgroup (the “Workgroup”) that is evaluating relevant policies throughout the County. The Workgroup is comprised of staff from multiple County departments and from the Florida Department of Health. The Workgroup was introduced to the Board in February of 2022, followed by four additional work sessions that introduced each subgroup, another work session that provided an overview and results of the Groundwater Vulnerability Assessment in 2023, and most recently, the May 2024 work session that presented the Workgroup’s Policy Recommendations to the Board.

This work session will provide a recap of the May 21, 2024 Workgroup Policy Recommendations work session, in which the Board concurred with staff recommendations and directed staff to draft the Chapter 37 Ordinance needed to implement staff recommendations for new development. Staff will present the Draft Chapter 37 Ordinance and request Board concurrence to advertise the public hearing for the Ordinance.
