PURPOSE: The issue of homelessness in Florida, specifically Central Florida, has been exacerbated by significant rent increases, making housing unaffordable for many individuals and families. Accordingly, there is a need to revisit this important topic and provide an opportunity for meaningful discussion focused on current facts and innovative strategies on how to improve the situation.

At this work session, Mental Health and Homelessness Division staff will update the Board on the County Encampment Ordinance, the 2025 Point in Time count, and newly implemented Orange County funded projects to assist unhoused individuals in our community.
