PROCUREMENT:

This amendment will extend the contract for the period of July 14, 2024 through January 13, 2025 and add funding for the extended period. This extension will provide interim services for an estimated population of 3,500 inmates until a procurement process is completed.  The re-solicitation is projected to be issued in early July.

FUNDING:

Funding is available in account number 0001-081-3809-4135.

APPROVALS:

The Corrections Department concurs with this recommendation.

REMARKS:

On May 21, 2024, the Board authorized award of Contract Y24-1086, Emergency Inmate Food Services, to Trinity Services Group, Inc., in the amount of $1,024,725.96 for a 60-day period.  This contract is necessary to ensure continuity of services while a procurement process is completed to establish a term contract.

Price reasonableness was established based on comparison to Broward Sheriff’s Office contracted rates for similar services and inmate population. Additionally, negotiations were conducted with Trinity Services Group, Inc. resulting in an approximate $524,000 decrease from the emergency contract pricing.  Negotiations resulted in a decrease of 36% for bagged meals and a decrease of 14% for kosher meals. The price of regular meals remained flat.
