Fiscal Year 2023 Assistance to Firefighters Grant, Award Number: EMW-2023-FG-04803

 

PURPOSE: The Department of Homeland Security, through the Federal Emergency Management Agency, awarded Fiscal Year 2023 Assistance to Firefighters Grant, Award number: EMW-2023-FG-04803 to the Orange County Fire Rescue Department in the amount of $2,685,454.54 with $268,545.46 matching non-federal funds for a total amount of $2,954,000. This grant project focuses on firefighter wellness by reducing the exposure to harmful pollutants from engine exhaust and in funding a pilot annual behavioral health evaluation. The vehicle mounted exhaust filter project has a budget of $2,310,000 with a goal of outfitting every vehicle in the fire department fleet, for a total of 231 apparatus. The behavioral health evaluation pilot program has a budget of $644,000 and will provide a behavioral health evaluation to all operations personnel, for a total of 1610 personnel. This grant has a performance period of September 26, 2024 through September 25, 2026 and requires a 10% match.
