PROJECT:
N/A

PURPOSE: A nationwide settlement has been reached to resolve opioid litigation brought by states and local governments against Purdue Pharma and the Sackler family. The proposed Purdue Direct Settlement, implemented through Purdue’s bankruptcy proceedings, addresses Purdue’s claims against the Sacklers and related parties, as well as direct claims held by states, local governments such as Orange County, and other creditors.

The total amount of funds that Orange County may receive under this settlement is not yet known, as it depends on several factors, including the number of participating states and subdivisions. To remain eligible for any distribution, Orange County must execute and return the Subdivision Participation and Release Form to the National Opioids Settlement Implementation Administrator by September 30, 2025.
