PURPOSE: Change Order No. 1 to Contract No. Y24-720 is required for the West Orange Trail Pedestrian Bridge over US-441 Bridge Deficiency Repairs.  This change order, in the amount of $163,301.75, increases the original contract amount from $1,248,325 to $1,411,626.75 with an increase of 11.6 % of the original repair cost.  The current change order is required for additional work and materials for cleaning and coating concrete class 5 finish and anti-graffiti, and painting of the grating as requested by the Parks and Recreation Division after commencement of the construction activities under the Contract No. Y24-720.  The pedestrian bridge is over US-441 (South Orange Blossom Trail) and the additional scope of work is considered critical due to overhead roadway, safety, containment system, and Florida Department of Transportation permitting requirements that have already been obtained for the repair activities that are in place.  This additional work needs to be accomplished in continuation with the previous work in order to utilize resources such as the safety equipment and containment system that has been established.  The engineer of record for this project provided revised plans to accommodate the additional painting work.   Funds for this change order will be available on the accounting line 1050-062-2116-6310.
