PROJECT:
Lake Catherine (Tymber Skan on the Lake) Redevelopment

PURPOSE: Built in 1974, Tymber Skan on the Lake, a multi-family condominium (condo) complex, had 49 buildings with 321 condo units. For the last 20 years, Tymber Skan has been plagued by public safety concerns and dilapidated structures. Currently, after extensive demolitions only eight building remain, water and wastewater services are not available to one of the few occupied buildings, Orange County Government owns 38% of the condo units, and there is widespread dumping. The County understands the plight of the existing residents in Tymber Skan and realizes intervention is required to address the conditions and facilitate the revitalization of the property. To initiate the revitalization, staff proposes to utilize Florida Statutes Chapters 714 and 718 to terminate the condo associations and petition for a receiver to manage the partition action to force the sale of the property. To provide the full context about Tymber Skan and the County’s involvement, the presentation will cover the following topics: history, existing conditions, and the County’s next steps, action plan, resources for residents, and communications plan.
