PROJECT: N/A

PURPOSE: The Florida Department of Environmental Protection alternative water supply grant program provides grants to local governments to help communities plan for and implement water conservation, reuse, and other water supply and water resource development projects. The Orlo Vista Integrated Water Resource Project (Project) will capture stormwater from Shingle Creek approximately seven miles downstream at the South Water Reclamation Facility for beneficial reuse. This reclaimed stormwater will support aquifer recharge, help meet increasing demand in fast-growing areas like Water Conserv II, reduce nutrient levels in Shingle Creek through nitrogen and phosphorus removal, and increase pond capacity at the Orlo Vista neighborhood upstream, offering greater protection from future flooding events.
