Approval and execution of State of Florida Department of Environmental Protection Standard Grant Agreement Agreement Number: WS107 between the State of Florida Department of Environmental Protection and Orange County for the design and construction of the Orlo Vista Integrated Water Resource Project in an amount not-to-exceed $5,000,000 and authorization for the County Administrator to approve scheduling or other administrative changes and execute minor amendments or other modifications to the agreement which do not affect the total aggregate amount of the budget or intent of the project. PROJECT: N/A
PURPOSE: The Florida Department of Environmental Protection alternative water supply grant program provides grants to local governments to help communities plan for and implement water conservation, reuse, and other water supply and water resource development projects. The Orlo Vista Integrated Water Resource Project (Project) will capture stormwater from Shingle Creek approximately seven miles downstream at the South Water Reclamation Facility for beneficial reuse. This reclaimed stormwater will support aquifer recharge, help meet increasing demand in fast-growing areas like Water Conserv II, reduce nutrient levels in Shingle Creek through nitrogen and phosphorus removal, and increase pond capacity at the Orlo Vista neighborhood upstream, offering greater protection from future flooding events.
