PROJECT: Winter Park Community Redevelopment Agency
PURPOSE: Community Redevelopment Agencies (CRAs) are special districts created to foster redevelopment of targeted areas. The Board reviews requests for most CRAs to reauthorize for additional terms and/or expand their boundaries. The Winter Park CRA is scheduled to sunset in 2027.
The City of Winter Park has requested to continue their redevelopment efforts in the central business district and westside community for an additional 10 years. Additionally, the City has requested to expand the CRA’s boundaries along Fairbanks Avenue to focus on projects associated with affordable housing, transportation safety, and infrastructure.
During the discussion on Tuesday, August 27, 2024, staff will provide a presentation outlining the background on CRAs, an overview of the Winter Park CRA, and a draft redevelopment plan. Additionally, there will be a review of Winter Park’s request to reauthorize and extend the boundary. Lastly, staff will lay out the next steps and the approval process.
