PROJECT: Archer First Response Systems Pilot Program Equipment Lease and Operating Agreement
PURPOSE: Orange County Fire Rescue Department (OCFRD) is committed to continued service improvement, which includes the use of the newest technologies available. In conjunction with Orlando Health and Archer First Response, OCFRD is participating in a one-year trial utilizing an unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) to deliver lifesaving equipment to emergencies. The UAV will contain a payload to include an Automated External Defibrillator (AED) and Narcan. The deployment will be based on pre-determined criteria and managed by the OCFRD 911 communications center. The payload is tethered to the UAV and will be lowered to a nearby sidewalk or driveway via programmed delivery points. The trial is for a single UAV, which will be installed at Fire Station 58, in the Hunter's Creek area. Equipment is leased at a cost of $1.00/month from Archer First Response for a total of $12.00. The Airworthiness Statement is required as a declaration that the UAV will be utilized to the manufacturer's specifications and maintained in compliance with all applicable safety requirements.
