PURPOSE: The Supervisor of Elections is formally requesting the appointment of two members of the Board of County Commissioners to serve on the 2026 Orange County Canvassing Board, with one designated as the alternate, as required by Florida Statute 102.141 (see attached letter).  Appointing the representatives at this time will allow them to reserve dates for mandatory training, orientation, and canvassing activities associated with both elections.  Also enclosed is a reference letter citing Florida Statute § 102.141 related to County Canvassing Board member disqualification, as specifically noted in the summary on the final page. Please give close attention to the letter from the Director of the Division of Elections as he states what constitutes being an "active participant" in a campaign.  Additionally, a similar request has been submitted to Chief Judge Lisa T. Munyon for the appointment of a County Judge and alternate to serve on the Canvassing Board.  Please review the enclosed information at your convenience.
