PROJECT:

PURPOSE:
At the close of the two-part series of stormwater management work sessions on May 23, 2023, tasks were identified to move Orange County to a more resilient community. One of these tasks was to revisit the rainfall intensity data that we currently use for our design standards. This would be accomplished by completing a rainfall study. This discussion item will present the findings of the rainfall study and recommendations moving forward.

Prior to the May 2023 work sessions, Board members expressed concern regarding rainfall intensities, existing design standards, and maintenance of drainage infrastructure. The first May 2023 work session provided information regarding the problems encountered as a result of the 2022 Hurricane season as well as the current design standards, studies, capital improvements, and maintenance programs. The second work session focused on the future of Stormwater Management in Orange County including climate change impacts on rainfall, master basin updates, innovative ideas, and funding needs.

This is for informational purposes only; no action is required by the Board.
