PROCUREMENT:
The purchase order provides for the emergency replacement of the variable frequency drives for four effluent pumps at the South Water Reclamation Facility (SWRF).
FUNDING:
Funding is available in account number 4420-038-1555-0056-6310.
APPROVALS:
The Utilities Department concurs with this recommendation.
REMARKS:
SWRF processes 56 million gallons of wastewater per day (MGD). Current average daily flows are approximately 33 MGD. Reclaimed water management is crucial to steady state operations and necessary to prevent environmental harm as well as protecting the health of the public at large. Failure to meet regulatory requirements may cause the Florida Department of Environmental Protection enforcement in the form of a consent order and fines.
SWRF has six 1,000 horsepower effluent pumps that discharge treated effluent from the facility to the Conserve II Distribution Center. To ensure compatibility and reliability, the purchase of these four units is necessary to match two units that were purchased in October 2023.
