The Clerk of the Board is responsible for keeping accurate minutes and maintaining Board records for each Board of County Commissioner (BCC) and Value Adjustment Board (VAB) meeting. In addition, every 4 years, the Clerk of the Board office provides staff support to the Charter Review Commission (CRC) appointed by the BCC. PURPOSE: The State of Florida requires every county to contribute funds to help offset the state's portion of Medicaid. In the past, the state billed counties for services used by their residents. In 2013, the legislature changed the way counties are billed for their share of cost by instituting a formula-based contribution in lieu of the former billing system. Each counties' contribution is based on their share of the state's Medicaid population. Orange County's estimated contribution for the state's 2025-26 fiscal year is $27,740,977. The County has budgeted $28.5 million to cover Medicaid costs next year. This amount is broken down into equal monthly payments, which the County remits to the state. If a county does not submit the required monthly payment, the state will deduct the appropriate amount from their monthly sales tax distribution.
