The Clerk of the Board is responsible for keeping accurate minutes and maintaining Board records for each Board of County Commissioner (BCC) and Value Adjustment Board (VAB) meeting. In addition, every 4 years, the Clerk of the Board office provides staff support to the Charter Review Commission (CRC) appointed by the BCC. Please contact our office if you need an accessible version of documents on this page, and one will be provided.

SUBJECT:  Final Meeting Report of the 2024 VAB

 

BACKGROUND:

This discussion item is to provide the VAB an update on petition filing activity and expenses of the 2024 VAB described in the Final Meeting Report of the 2024 VAB. Staff highlighted activities since the onset of petition filing.

On August 19, 2024, the VAB approved its budget totaling $731,700. Sec 194.013, Florida Statutes, provides that all filing fees collected by the clerk shall be allocated and utilized to defray, to the extent possible, the costs incurred in connection with the administration and operation of the VAB. Since August, the VAB heard 2,103 hearings for 2,264 properties located within Orange County. Expenses paid to date reflect a five percent increase from the 2023 VAB tax cycle.
