PROCUREMENT:
This amendment adds funds to continue services for the remainder of the current contract which ends on December 31, 2026. Due to high demand, the need for effective services, and the hiring of new staff, increased funding is necessary to ensure the continuation of high-quality, uninterrupted services.
APPROVALS:
The Office for a Drug Free Community concurs with this request.
REMARKS:
In Orange County, individuals suffering from mental health and substance use disorders are frequently booked into and released from the Orange County Corrections facility. Without effective treatment, many of these vulnerable individuals continue using substances.
The Corrections facility is uniquely positioned to provide treatment for these individuals in a controlled, safe environment while they are inmates. The Orange County Better Access to Treatment program (BATT) will increase access to evidence-based treatment and recovery support for justice-involved individuals living with an opioid use disorder (OUD) after being released from custody. The project aims to break down silos between justice and health systems to create a comprehensive, accessible plan of care to improve health and safety outcomes.
