PROJECT: N/A
PURPOSE: The Florida Department of Health in Orange County (FDOH) fee schedule is comprised of state and local fees. Changes in local fees must be approved by the Board of County Commissioners. FDOH is currently requesting board approval to modify two of their fees. FDOH is requesting an increase in the county permit fee from $85.00 to $100.00. The county permit fee is charged for Environment Health services that do not have a specific state fee. The fee revenue is used to fund the cost to investigate Sanitary Nuisances such as sewage spills from septic and sewer systems, overflowing dumpsters, and green swimming pools, which may be breeding mosquitoes and rodent complaints. It is also used to cover the costs of investigating food and waterborne disease complaints and funds our animal bite surveillance and testing program. Additionally, they are requesting an increase in the additional death certificate fee from $5.00 to $10.00. The revenue will be used to fund vital statistics operations in Orange County. This will be the first vital statistics fee increase in over 15 years. Funds raised by both fees will remain in Orange County to help fund critical FDOH programs.
