PROCUREMENT:
This project involves the replacement of two existing gravity sanitary manholes and adjacent PVC sanitary sewer piping and all associated work at the intersection of Universal Blvd and Tradeshow Blvd. This project is located in District 6.
FUNDING:
Funding is available in account number 4420-038-1347-3843.
APPROVALS:
The Utilities Field Services Division concurs with this recommendation.
REMARKS:
The Utilities Field Services Division issued an emergency request for quotations from three contractors to replace two manholes on Universal Boulevard. Due to the depth and location of these manholes, as well as the urgency of the replacement, Field Services determined they could not address the repairs internally.
One manhole has settled due to leaking connections, undermining a portion of the roadway, and similar issues are anticipated at another manhole near the future intersection of Universal Boulevard and Kirkman Road. The repair will require specialized shoring and extensive bypassing of the wastewater gravity system to maintain continuous flow during construction. Given the potential safety hazards and risk of further damage,
these repairs were expedited under emergency procurement procedures.
