body
PROCUREMENT:
The purchase order provides for the emergency repair of the 48-inch diameter pipeline of the Long Lake pump station which is currently leaking affecting Beggs Road, to protect property and public safety.
FUNDING:
Funding is available in account number 1023-072-2753-6330.
APPROVALS:
The Stormwater Management Division concurs with this recommendation.
REMARKS:
The Stormwater Management Division has identified that the Long Lake pump station is leaking into Beggs Road when the pumps are running. This procurement was handled as an emergency, due to the critical need to repair the leak timely, prior to the start of the rainy season, to mitigate against the pump station not being operational to relieve high lake elevations during a hurricane event, which will cause flooding to the properties and roadways near Long Lake.
Murphy Pipeline Contractors LLC, has experience working with these conditions and performing the necessary work in a timely manner to prevent further damage. Price reasonableness has been determined based on comparison to the engineer’s estimate with the assistance of a consultant to compare project duration and options to reduce cost. Analysis determined this option will save costs and reduce project to only 90 days.
