PROJECT: City of Orlando Watershed Atlas Interlocal Agreement for the Orange County Water Atlas

PURPOSE: The Environmental Protection Division (EPD) is requesting approval of the renewal of the Interlocal Agreement (Agreement) for the Watershed Atlas Project with the City of Orlando.

In March of 2005, the Board approved the development of a Watershed Atlas ("Atlas") to provide an accessible internet location for surface water related information specific to Orange County. The University of South Florida, which has developed atlases for several Central Florida counties, developed and maintains the Atlas for Orange County. The site is available to the general public, Orange County staff, and business professionals who desire to review current and historic water quality data, lake studies, and other information related to the County's vast water resources.

To cost share approximately 60% of the annual maintenance of the Atlas website, the Board has approved several interlocal agreements with multiple municipalities. The County has asked the participating partners to renew their Agreement. New Interlocal Agreements formalize the maintenance funding with four-year terms.
