PROJECT: N/A
PURPOSE: Outstanding County debt can sometimes be refunded to create savings on future annual debt service costs. The County has such an opportunity to reduce the cost of future Tourist Development Tax (TDT) debt service by refunding all the existing Tourist Development Tax Refunding Revenue Bonds, Series 2015 (the “2015 TDT Bonds”). The County is preparing this refunding transaction with the minimum savings target of 4% of the refunded 2015 TDT Bond par amount which is currently $69,185,000. Based on current market conditions, the refunding is expected to result in net present value savings of approximately $3.6 million through 2031. The proposed resolution provides the authority to use the lower-cost proceeds of the 2025 TDT Bonds to refund the 2015 TDT Bonds to achieve this debt service savings. Additional information regarding the transaction is included.
