PROJECT: Vision 2050 and Orange Code Board Work Session

PURPOSE: During this December 17, 2024, Board work session, staff will recap the subjects covered during two previous Vision 2050 and Orange Code work sessions in September and November, before providing updates on other outstanding topics.

More specifically, during this final work session staff will summarize recent Vision 2050 concerns raised by Orange County Public Schools (OCPS) and proposed policy edits and processes drafted in coordination with OCPS staff to address public school capacity in certain school zones; the activation of increased density thresholds where insufficient school capacity exists; and the status of needed urban school prototypes. Environmental Protection Division staff will also summarize proposed edits to Vision 2050 Chapter 5 (Natural Resources and Conservation), followed by Planning Division staff who will provide an overview of other notable policy, map, and framework edits to the Vision 2050 plan since it was last transmitted to the State in July 2023. All proposed edits will be later discussed with Florida Department of Commerce representatives on Wednesday, December 18, 2024, and presented to the Local Planning Agency during their work session on Thursday, December 19, 2024.
