PROJECT: N/A

PURPOSE: The Florida Department of Environmental Protection (FDEP) provides grants to governmental entities for wastewater projects that reduce the amount of nutrients introduced into the groundwater within a basin management action plan (BMAP), including the Wekiwa Spring and Rock Springs BMAP. Orange County Utilities has implemented a project that includes construction of a central sanitary sewer system and septic tank abandonment for up to 95 parcels along Pine Hills Road that are located within the Wekiwa Spring and Rock Springs BMAP Priority Focus Area.

On March 31, 2023, Orange County and FDEP entered into an agreement governing funds that were awarded by FDEP for a Water Quality Improvement grant for the Pine Hills Neighborhood Improvement District Septic to Sewer Retrofit project for the not-to-exceed amount of $4,290,000.
