PROJECT:
County-Initiated Street Renaming for a portion of Double Eagle Drive to Millenia Park Boulevard

 

PURPOSE: The Zoning Division has identified a portion of Double Eagle Drive between West Oak Ridge Road and Millenia Park Boulevard that runs north/south and is a continuation of Millenia Park Boulevard, but is no longer a continuation of Double Eagle Drive, which runs west/east.  

Roadways that are a continuation, extension of, or in alignment with existing roads are required to bear the same name as that of the existing road.  Segmented roadways that bear the same name but are not a continuation of each other can cause difficulty for first responders when addressing an emergency. Staff is requesting this county-initiated street name change for the benefit of the public’s safety. There are no parcels addressed off this section of Double Eagle Drive therefore there are no affected property owners. Typically, staff would notify all the property owners with frontage along a street advising them of a name change upon approval of the request. Since there are no properties with frontage or that are addressed off of this portion of Double Eagle Drive this will not be necessary. The portion of Double Eagle Drive that will be renamed to Millenia Park Boulevard for consistency with the remainder of the road is shown on the attached map.
