PROCUREMENT:
Work under this change order includes an additional 300 cubic yards of grout, supervision, testing, and an off-duty law enforcement officer for traffic control. This also accounts for the urgency of mobilizing a qualified contractor, site complexity, and the potential for unknown conditions. Due to the unknown extent of the sinkhole, it is not possible to accurately estimate the total quantity of grout required to fill it. The initial emergency purchase order authorized 310 cubic yards of grout, which was utilized over approximately two weeks. Monitoring data from installed casings indicates that the sinkhole is only about half full, and additional grout is needed to complete the filling process.

Funding is available in account number 1002-072-2906-3816.

The Public Works Engineering Division concurs with this recommendation.
REMARKS:
On April 9, 2025, during geotechnical testing for the Reams Road widening project, the consultant's field staff encountered a sinkhole. This caused a depression in the existing travel lanes.
