Approval and execution of Amendment No. 1 to Agreement No. NS104 between Florida Department of Environmental Protection and Orange County for the Shingle Creek Pond 6459 Best Management Practices Treatment Train to extend Task 1 Construction end date from March 31, 2026 through March 31, 2029, removal of Task 2 Draft Final Report, extend Task 2 Final Report end date from August 31, 2026 through August 31, 2029, and extend the Agreement Expiration Date from March 31, 2027 through April 30, 2030. PROJECT: Florida Department of Environmental Protection Standard Grant Agreement Number NS104 Shingle Creek Pond 6459 BMP Treatment Train.
PURPOSE: Shingle Creek Pond 6459 is an existing stormwater pond located at 5656 Starbright Drive, Parcel ID 16-23-29-9456-00-002, within the Lake Okeechobee Basin Management Action Plan (BMAP) area. Contractors for the Orange County Environmental Protection Division (EPD) are designing improvements to the existing stormwater pond that will enhance nutrient removal as required by the BMAP. The improvements include piping modifications to increase residence time within the pond, a sidebank filter consisting of biosorption activated media, and a pump station to treat additional water from the adjacent Americana Outfall Canal.
On December 7, 2023, the Board approved Statewide Water Quality Assistance Grant NS104 which authorized the Florida Department of Environmental Protection (FDEP) to provide funding assistance to Orange County. Agreement NS104 awarded $500,000 to Orange ...
