PROCUREMENT:
The purchase order provides for the emergency repair of a 30-inch wastewater force main discharging from F3167 master pump station south of the Toll Road 528. This project is located in District 1.
FUNDING:
Funding is available in account number 4420-038-1574-0016-6340.
APPROVALS:
The Field Services Division concurs with this recommendation.
REMARKS:
Orange County Utilities (OCU) requested authorization to procure emergency construction services to complete permanent repairs to a failed wastewater transmission force main discharging from master pump station F3167 south of the Toll Road 528. The damage to the force main caused a sanitary sewer overflow, which has a risk of impacting public health and environmental safety. The force main is a transmission main of sanitary sewer within the OCU collection system. Repair was required for this to operate correctly. The overflow has been contained but the pipe needs to be bypassed and replaced to restore the flow conditions.
OCU responded to a wastewater force main break near the intersection and State Road 528. The existing 30-inch concrete force main failed due to corrosion and cannot be repaired due to the size and type of pipe.
