PROCUREMENT:
This change order provides funding for additional lake treatment activities required as a result of design changes to the outfall end treatment. The original design included a headwall as the end treatment for the 36-inch diameter piped outfall discharging into the lake, to be constructed within an existing 14-foot wide drainage easement. However, the required width of a headwall for a 36-inch diameter pipe, in accordance with Florida Department of Transportation standards, is 15 feet, which exceeds the width of the drainage easement. This discrepancy was overlooked by the design engineer and was not identified until after the headwall had been installed in the field.
To comply with the easement constraints, the end treatment was revised from a headwall to a mitered end section. As a result, the originally anticipated seven days for dewatering, lake flocculation treatment, and erosion control measures associated with the headwall installation had to be extended by 28 additional days to allow for the coordination and implementation of the design changes.
FUNDING:
Funding is available in account number 1004-072-3010-6330.
APPROVALS:
The Roads and Drainage Division concurs with this recommendation.
