PROJECT: Green PLACE Advisory Board Recommendation for Naming of a Green PLACE Property
PURPOSE: On September 28, 2021, the Board approved a resolution providing for creation of the Green PLACE Advisory Board (GPAB). In accordance with that resolution, one of the duties and responsibilities of the GPAB is to "Recommend names for Green PLACE parcels using the procedure outlined in Administrative Regulation 2.16 (Naming of Orange County Parks and Related Facilities)." During their meeting on April 9, 2025, the GPAB approved a motion to recommend naming the site informally known as Narut-Stucki-Condrey Property as Roberts Branch Preserve. In accordance with Administrative Regulation 2.16, the proposed name is being advanced to the Board for consideration based on Mayor Demings' concurrence with the Green PLACE Advisory Board recommendation for naming the property as Roberts Branch Preserve.
Background:
The parcels that comprise the Narut-Stucki-Condrey Property were purchased in April 2023, April 2024, and August 2024. Together, they comprise 997 acres of flatwoods, depression marsh, and swamp habitats, as well as rare habitats including scrub and wet prairie. Plant species observed on the site include the threatened Pine lily (Lilium catesbaei) and wildlife species including the threatened gopher tortoise, Wood Stork, and Southeastern American Kestrel and common species such as the Eastern...
