PROJECT: Habitat for Humanity Greater Orlando and Osceola County, Inc. Land Acquisition Program
PURPOSE: On March 24, 2020, the Board adopted Ordinance 2020-09 establishing the Affordable Housing Trust Fund (AHTF) for the purpose of providing the financial resources and the leverage necessary to create and preserve affordable housing units in Orange County. The AHTF plan was approved October 14, 2025, for FY 2026-2028 which allows for the selection of projects through a competitive Request for Applications (RFA). Habitat for Humanity Greater Orlando and Osceola County, Inc. submitted a proposal requesting monetary assistance for the Project during Orange County's FY 2024-2025 RFA for Housing Projects for Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) funding.
The Housing and Community Development Division recommends the Project for $1,500,000 and identified the AHTF as a funding source for the Project. The Project will support the identification and acquisition of land suitable for the development of affordable homeownership units to be sold to very low-, low-, and moderate-income households, as defined by the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development, adjusted for family size.
