PURPOSE: The U.S Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) has issued notice to the Community and Family Services Department and the Community Action Division that funds have been allocated to Orange County as part of the annual Federal budget process.  A grant of $1 Million was included in this year’s Congressional Appropriations package thanks to submission by Congressman Maxwell Frost. These funds are designated by Congress to assist in the construction of the Senior Center at Orange County’s Multicultural Center (District 6).  Construction of the Senior Center is on track to begin in early 2025.  Spending authority with respect to these funds begins upon the execution of a grant contract with HUD.  The Community Action Division will coordinate the expenditure of funds for construction purposed with the Capital Projects Division.
