PURPOSE: R.P. Utility & Excavation Corp. has submitted a price proposal for additional services under the terms of Contract Y24-787. The original scope of the project includes replacement and/or rehabilitation of miscellaneous segments of gravity sanitary sewer, sewer laterals, and manholes located in the following wastewater service areas (SA) subdivisions: SA3600 (East Orange), SA3904 (Eastwood), and SA3990 (Park Manor). Construction will include open-cut of roadways, asphalt restoration, sidewalk and driveway removal and replacement and restoration to all disturbed areas. During the removal and replacement of one of the two manholes along Golfway Blvd in SA3904 (Eastwood), the existing 12-inch PVC water main was found to be deficient due to over-insertion and over-deflection of the pipeline. The 12-inch pipe has broken multiple times and field investigation shows the deficient conditions to exist along the entire route.
The proposed Change Order Number 1, in the amount of $1,146,768.82, includes installing approximately 2,140 linear feet of replacement 12-inch ductile iron pipe within the roadway. Work includes replacement of fire hydrants, valves, maintenance of traffic, grouting and abandoning the existing PVC watermain and milling and resurfacing of the disturbed areas of Golfway Blvd.
