Approval and execution of Orange County, Florida and Children’s Safety Village of Central Florida FY 2025 Grant Agreement in the amount of $40,000. All Districts. (Traffic Engineering Division)

PURPOSE:
The Traffic Engineering Division is partnering with the Children’s Safety Village for education, marketing, community outreach, reports, and educational materials to support Orange County’s Walk/Ride/Thrive Initiative.
This grant funding award of $40,000 specifically will be used to educate approximately 1,000 children, who will be trained by a certified Bicycle/Pedestrian Safety Educator from the State of Florida. Normally, Traffic Engineering would not be able to educate such a large amount of County residents in a year. Therefore, partnering with the Children’s Safety Village will assist us in meeting the goal of Orange County's Walk-Ride-Thrive! Pedestrian Safety Initiative, which is to establish and maintain a coordinated, comprehensive, and consistent response to Orange County’s pedestrian and bicycle safety issues.
Staff recommends that the Board approve the grant agreement.
