Approval to award Invitation for Bids Y24-789-ZR, Emergency Orange County Courthouse Fire Pump Replacement, to the sole responsive and responsible bidder, Johnson Controls Fire Protection LP, in the total contract award amount of $621,850. PROCUREMENT:
This contract will consist of the removal and replacement of the existing fire pump at the Courthouse. The project is located in District 5.
FUNDING:
Funding is available in account number 1023-043-0263-3810.
APPROVALS:
The Facilities Management Division concurs with this recommendation.
REMARKS:
One bid was received in response to the Invitation for Bids (IFB) and was evaluated for responsiveness, responsibility, and price reasonableness. The bid submitted by Johnson Controls Fire Protection LP is considered reasonable based on the engineer's estimate. References provided were satisfactory for this type of work and Johnson Controls Fire Protection LP has been determined to be responsible. Therefore, award is recommended to Johnson Controls Fire Protection LP.
This project is being executed as an emergency due to the end of the existing fire pump life cycle and the inability to obtain replacement parts as they are no longer manufactured. A new fire pump needs to be ordered and there is an approximately 32 to 42 week lead time once the order is placed. This project was previously advertised twice.
