SUBJECT: Approval of Purchase Order M115422, Repair of Huber Technology Bar Screen
ACTION REQUESTED:
title
Approval of Purchase Order M115422, Repair of Huber Technology Bar Screen, with Huber Technology Inc., in the amount of $135,393.90 ([Utilities Department Water Reclamation Division] Procurement Division)
body
PROCUREMENT:
This purchase order will repair one bar screen unit which is currently non-operational. Bar screens provide the initial pretreatment for incoming sewer flow, removing large rags and debris before they can interfere with or damage downstream processes and equipment. Efficient removal of this debris is critical to permit compliance.
FUNDING:
Funding is available in account number 4420-038-1359-3820.
APPROVALS:
The Water Reclamation Division concurs with this recommendation.
REMARKS:
The South Water Reclamation Facility (SWRF) is a 56 million gallon per day water reclamation facility. SWRF has a total of three Huber Technology EscaMax 9000 bar screens.
Huber Technology, Inc. is the sole vendor authorized to sell or service Huber units. Price reasonableness has been determined based on comparison to quotes provided the cities of Fort Lauderdale and Miami for similar parts.
Huber will supply all upgraded stainless-steel parts and labor required for the repairs, which includes replacing bearings, stainless steel rollers (to protect from corrosion), chains, brush assembly, drive shafts, and the trackway for the chain. Once repairs are complete, Huber will assist in getting the units back in the channels and perform startup/testing of the repaired equipment to ensure the repaired bar screen is operating properly.
